longings from far away

i long for the time when we can really talk
the voice that calms a torrent of waves in the shore
i long for the time when we would just walk
going to places far from the things we abhor

those days have been long gone
gone enough for me to even remember
the feeling that haunts me till dawn
like a blazing fire reduced into an ember

the buckets of water that were poured on
the smiles that turned upside down
the feelings of being a helpless pawn
are long gone so you can send in the clown

gone are the days of tubthumping bliss
unheard are the sounds when words just spurt
memories that i cannot just dismiss
ahhh, the after effects of being hurt
